On Wednesday April 27th our youth group is having a “different” type of meeting. Instead of our normal range of activities, we will be dividing up to engage in some community service projects that were proposed by our own students. Please keep reading to see what each group will be doing and e-mail Pastor Josh for the appropriate permission form.
The Jr High Boys (grades 7 & 8) decided to deliver cookies to people in our neighbourhood. To make this happen, we are hoping that parents would supply us with 1 dozen homemade (nut-free) cookies that we could package up in care packages. We will then visit some homes predetermined by Pastor Josh (within walking distance) and drop off these cookies. Please send the cookies with your teen on April 27th along with a signed permission form.
After much deliberation it has been decided that the Sr High Boys (grades 9-12) will be travelling to Devil’s Punchbowl and picking up garbage in the area around the lookout and parking lot. Because transportation needs to be arranged, it is essential that signed permission forms be returned on April 20th.
The Jr High Girls (grades 7 & 8) had the excellent idea to do some cooking for someone in our neighbourhood. With this in mind, the group will be making something in the PDAC kitchen and then delivering it to someone predetermined by Pastor Josh (within walking distance). Signed permission forms are required.
The Sr High Girls (grades 9-12) had some excellent ideas that we wish we could have made happen. In the end we landed on an idea that we hope gives them a taste of what they wanted to do. We contacted Notre Dame House – a youth shelter – and asked them what we could donate to their residents. They would appreciate donations of toiletries with the exception of mouthwash and razors. So on April 27th, our Sr High Girls will go shopping for the desired items. Each of the girls are asked to contribute at least $2 to the shopping trip. The group will then deliver the items to Notre Dame House that same night. Because transportation needs to be arranged, it is essential that signed permission forms be returned on April 20th.
